Since 1984, GALANIS SPORTS DATA, statistically covers all sports events that have been taken place in Greece and many abroad, having developed special software for all Olympic and many non-Olympic sports.

Football

On May, 18th, 1994, the final of the European Cup Champions League AC Milan - FC Barcelona 4-0 is held at the Olympic Stadium in Athens. GALANIS SPORTS DATA shows on TV and presents to the Press, the first football stats probably for the first time in a major European tournament.

The first version of the software will be gradually enriched with extensions to present multiple analyses and conclusions in order to evaluate players and teams during each match, each league in total and in a depth of 15 years gathering data from the company’s database.

As a result, data projection on TV is based on analyses that are formed during the evolution of the match helping the viewer to form a personal opinion about the dominance of each team.

Basketball

In 1989, GALANIS SPORTS DATA covers the European Cup Final: Real Madrid – Snaidero Caserta 117-113 on behalf of the Hellenic Basketball Federation (HBF) at the Peace and Friendship Stadium and since then the company is constantly present in all basketball events and cooperates with the HBF and HEBA.

On March 19-21, 1996, GALANIS SPORTS DATA undertakes, on behalf of FIBA, the coverage of the Women's FINAL FOUR in Sofia (Bulgaria), while the next year on April 20-22, 1997, the company covers the Men’s FINAL FOUR in Rome. In this event for the first time at a European level and in cooperation with FIBA, GALANIS SPORTS DATA transmits the results and complete statistics, live via the Internet.

The experience of more than 20 years in basketball, pushes GALANIS SPORTS DATA to specialized software development with studies and analyzes that will gradually lead to the display of statistics per line-up, while television broadcasts will be supplemented with statistics based on the teams’ evaluation and the historical data drawn from a database (20 years of sports data) maintained by the company.

Volleyball

On the occasion of PAPPET '86, the World Volleyball Championship, held at the SEF on April 4-12, 1986, GALANIS SPORTS DATA developed the first version of software for volleyball, which will be reformed based on the international standards and the changes applied to the sport in 1999 with the abolition of the “sides” and the introduction of the “Libero”.

Water Polo

On the occasion of the 7th FINA CUP '87, the World Championships, held in Thessaloniki in 1987, GALANIS SPORTS DATA developed the first version of water polo software, including the playing time in the statistics table.

Track & Field

The European Indoor Athletics Championships in 1985 is the trigger for the first version of the track & field software. Since then, responding to the needs of the Athletics Federation (SEGAS), all requirements in all levels (men, women, juniors, boys, girls, teams) as well as in international meetings (Tsiklitiria, European & World Championships, etc.) will be met.

Track & field is the milestone of the introduction of "CCTV" for the first time in Greece, in all events, a practice which be implemented by the company in all team sports.

Chess

GALANIS SPORTS DATA owes to chess its first coverage (Chess Olympiad in Thessaloniki in 1984), its first international coverage and its first cooperation abroad (with the World Chess Federation in Dubai in 1986).

 Rally

On June 9-11, 2000 the Acropolis Rally is held in Itea. The company is required to develop software and cover the race while erecting a network of 50 computers in the Press Office, where live results of all stages are presented via the Intranet.
